::: EUROCITIES

EUROCITIES is the association of European metropolitan cities. EUROCITIES principal aim is to ensure that urban affairs are placed high on the European Union’s policy agenda. The EUROCITIES Environment Committee is the principal forum for policy and project development within the context of sustainable development. Moreover, it facilitates exchange of experience and transfer of good practice between EUROCITIES members. Recent policy initiatives have focused on waste management, noise pollution, sustainable land use, public procurement and overall environmental policy. The characteristic of EUROCITIES is that it is not a sectoral organisation but more a general one addressing a wide range of issues impacting on urban areas. Through this, of course, it is able to arrive at sustainable development from various angles, economic development, urban regeneration, social aspects, culture, environment and ecology, traffic, transport and mobility and the information society.

EUROCITIES could promote the Aalborg Commitments among its membership and make a range to tools available to the Campaign participants, which would help them implement the commitments.
