::: Energie-Cités

Energie-Cités is a non-profit association of local authorities for sustainable local energy policy. Energie-Cités aims to promote the role and importance of local authorities’ actions in launching and implementing clean energy policy in sustainable development. Energy consumption and production is at the core of sustainable development since it is related to a careful use of natural resources and the resulting polluting emissions to the environment. This requires the most relevant sectors (in addition to the energy sector in the strict sense of the word) and urban stakeholders to adopt an integrated approach.  Promoting a more sustainable form of energy production and consumption is also of central importance to air quality, climate change and waste management issues.

Energie-Cités is working with municipalities and local energy management agencies on both demand-side (in order to encourage the efficient use of energy sources) and supply-side (to develop renewable energy sources and decentralised energy production (CHP)). Energie-Cités focuses on sustainable energy management in cities, in particular energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, clean energy in general, and environmental protection in relation to energy production and consumption (e.g. transport, air quality, climate change, waste management, etc.).
