Description of the tool

This Guide is aimed at local and regional governments, both elected representatives and practitioners with an objective to raise the profile of energy policies at local and regional level.

It introduces the different roles of local and regional governments in sustainable energy policy. It is a source of ideas, measures and good practice examples to help local and regional governments to develop and implement action plans for sustainable energy. It highlights the need to include energy aspects into day-to-day activities of local and regional governments. By integrating energy issues into planning, design, construction, running of facilities and providing services, local and regional governments can be in the forefront of implementing actions needed to tackle climate change.

Availability of the tool

The Guide is available in English, German and Spanish. Also Latvian printed version is available.
