TOOL :: “PPP for Sustainability” – Application to the renovation and operation of public-sector building

Description of the project

“PPP for Sustainability” is a research and piloting project analysing how Public Private Partnerships can be designed in a sustainable way, optimising ecological, economic and social aspects. This includes exploring whether there are any general sustainability requirements and specifications applicable for PPP projects. The focus is on public buildings managed by German local governments. Research on the sustainability impact of PPPs will be combined with existing assessment tools, the outcome of the project will be guidelines for a routine approach to PPP sustainability assessment.

The project particularly addresses local governments as PPP contracting authorities, but will also be of interest to PPP service providers, researchers, staff members of PPP task forces and others professionally involved with PPP.

Guidelines for PPP sustainability assessment will be published first half of 2007.

German is the main language of the initiative. Results and basic information will be available in English.
